What is germination?
Germination is the process of seeds growing roots and planting itself in the soil so that the plants can grow. During germination, there are a few steps that the seed goes through.
Steps of Germination
1. The seed takes in water and nutrients from the soil.
2. The seed coat (the outside) breaks so that the inside can grow larger.
3. The roots grow and help the plant stand tall.
4. The roots grow even more and the plant pushes out from the soil.
5. The plant gets rid of the seed coat and is completely out of the soil.
6. The flower comes out and the plant is now a seedling.
