How do plants turn into new plants?

Plants are very special: they can create new plants very easily. But they need the help from nature to set seeds or grow fruit.

When plants are growing, there is a yellow powder called pollen in the flower. Pollen needs to be moved on the flower so that the plant can grow seeds which will then turn into new plants. This is called pollination.

Who in nature helps with pollination?

There are many different things that help move pollen for the plants.
  • The wind blows pollen around.
  • Many animals, such as birds and bats, get pollen on their skin and spread it by moving around in the air.
  • Bees are very important for pollination. The bees like going to flowers because they have bright colors and they have nectar to make honey with.
